Oriental Body Balance
Your therapist has a diploma in Oriental Body Balance(OBB) from the award winning college of Oriental Body Balance

OBB is a multi disciplinary approach to health and healing. Utilising techniques from eastern and western health care to provide a unique diagnostic system which views the body from many different angles in order to find the root cause of your condition and apply the best therapy.

Approaches include:

Qi Gung
Literally meaning 'energy work'. In its simplest of terms Qi / Chi means 'that which gives life'. Reference to the concept of Chi and life force is found in most ancient cultures; referred to as Prana in India, Ki in Japan, the Great Spirit in North America, Celtic cultures referred to it as Danu. The manipulation of Chi is the central concept of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). A person with strong Chi is alert and healthy and a person with weak Chi is often fatigued, sluggish and suffers from ill health.

Qi Gung is not miracle healing, your Oriental Body Balance practitioner uses their own Chi to activate your Chi to produce the healing.

Food Intolerance Testing
By placing food samples directly onto the body and utilising A.K. to isolate foods that are causing problems. This approach is successful as it demonstrates to the client how much energy the body has to use to process the food, helping to break habits and make dramatic changes.

Chinese Bodywork Therapy
Tui Na is an Oriental Bodywork Therapy that has been used in China for over 2,000 years. Tui Na uses the traditional Chinese medical theory of the flow of Qi through the meridians. Also known as Oriental physio therapy, Tui Na utilises dry and oil based massage and mobilisation within the body's natural range of movement to stimulate the systems of the body. Helping to remove blockages and stagnation and increasing the efficiency within the systems of the body. It is used to reduce stress, improve blood circulation, enhance immune function, and treat a variety of health conditions.

Cranial-Sacral Balancing (CSB)
A gentle hands on Positional Release Therapy method of releasing restrictions within the system that surrounds the brain and spinal cord. Improving the function of the central nervous system as well as relieving pain and discomfort. Releasing restrictions in the Cranio Sacral system improves the functioning of the central nervous system. By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CSB is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction.

Cupping
Sometimes referred to as a reverse massage as it gains the same effects as traditional massage by lifting rather than pressing. Heated vacuum cups are used to stimulate the circulation of blood and lymph, assisting the immune system. It is especially effective at releasing tension within the muscles.

Acupressure
Based on the principals of acupuncture, it utilises finger pressure at specific points along the body to treat ailments such as arthritis, tension and stress, aches and pains as well as general preventative health care.

Neuromuscular Therapy
Your Oriental Body Balance practitioner understands the role of the brain, spine and nerves in muscular pain. Using Positional Release Therapy skills to relieve tender, congested spots in muscle tissue and compressed nerves that may radiate pain to other areas of the body.

Myofascial Release Therapy
By applying mild, sustained pressure to gently stretch and soften the fascia or connective tissue. Myofascial release is used to treat neck and back pain, headaches, recurring sports injuries, scoliosis, and many other conditions caused by tight fascia; thus reducing pain by restoring normal alignment, function and balance within the body.

Applied Kinesiology (A.K.)
A.K. originated within the chiropractic profession, it is an approach to clinical practice, with multidisciplinary applications. A system using muscle testing as a functional neurological evaluation. The methodology is concerned primarily with neuromuscular function as it relates to the structural, chemical and mental physiologic regulatory mechanisms. It is not an exact science but the practitioner calibrates the individual and is able to pick up on variations in response to muscle tests.

In other words by testing various muscles in isolation, the results help me to build a picture of where imbalances are indicated within the body. From this information I will formulate am individual treatment plan.
