Hopi Ear Candling
Can be useful for headaches, migraines, stress, tinnitus, sleeping disorders, blocked ears and sinuses. A hollow tube of beeswax infused with essential oils is rested in the entrance to the ear, and when lit creates a chimney effect. The movement of the flame creates a vibration of the air in the ear candle, resulting in a massage-like effect on the eardrum.

Reflexology
Imbalances within the body's systems can be recognised and addressed by stimulating the blood, energy, immune system, muscles and organs of the body via reflex points on the feet and hands. Imbalances in the associated area of the body can manifest as a build up of toxins in the reflex. By 'working' the area these toxins can be broken down and released into the blood and lymph systems to be processed by the excretory system.

Reflexology is totally safe for all ages but should be avoided in the first stages of pregnancy (preferably until the 3rd trimester). The stimulating effect would be inadvisable for ladies who are at risk of miscarriage. And for this reason reflexology is recommended for ladies who are near their due date or overdue. Indian Head Massage
Although the name implies otherwise, the treatment area includes the upper back, arms and shoulders as well as the neck, face, ears and head. The treatment takes place in a seated position and you remain and fully clothed throughout. A powerful stress relieving massage that is both stimulating and relaxing. Indian Head Massage boosts the immune system, as well as clearing any stagnation of blood, lymph and Chi, releasing any build up of toxins into the body to be processed and excreted as normal.

Aromatherapy
Essential oils are nature’s remedies; revered for their ability to directly assist the immune system by penetrating the skin, into the body to carry out their characteristic functions in order to rebalance the body’s systems. Some common therapeutic applications of essential include: abscesses, allergies, arthritis, boils, colic, cuts, cystitis, dermatitis, dysmenorrhea (painful periods), earache, flatulence, hair (care & loss), headache, inflamed skin, insect bites, insomnia, nausea, neuralgia, PMS, rheumatism, sores, sprains, strains, stress, virus', wounds.

If you use essential oils at home please be aware that the average life expectancy of an open bottle of essential oil is around 12 months. Once the oil has been exposed to the air the active compounds will begin to degenerate. After a year although the oil may still retain its scent the health giving properties will be depleted.

Essential oils are highly concentrated and as a result can cause a skin reaction in some people. Although your qualified aromatherapist has knowledge of which oils are most likely to cause a reaction, everyone is different. So if after a treatment you experience any burning or itching sensations or come out in a rash, immediately remove the oils with soap and water and if you are worried about the reaction consult your GP.

Healing crisis
Massage and essential oils stimulate the systems of the body in order to promote healing and the removal of toxins that may have built up in your tissues over time. This can cause what is known as a healing crisis; all this means is that on average for the next 12 to 24 hours your body is busy trying to process any toxins.

So after a treatment you should do all you can to help your body do its job. This means avoiding strenuous activity, drinking plenty of water and avoiding diuretics such as tea, coffee, alcohol and caffeinated soft drinks such as: Red Bull, cola, Dr Pepper (read the labels as even some orange soft drinks contain caffeine) Diuretics dehydrate you, which can make you feel quite unwell during this process. Follow the link to find out how much caffeine (and sugar) is in your favourite drinks EnergyFiend

If you are drinking plenty of water and still feel unwell i.e. like you are coming down with a cold, don't worry its just a sign that you had a lot of stagnation and toxins in your tissues which now need to be processed. Take some extra rest and it should pass, but if the symptoms are severe or you are worried for any reason, consult your GP.
